Grafting on A. ornatum
« on: Wednesday, 10 July 2013 - 21:18:50 »
Hi everyone!
I have some A. ornatum seedlings and I want to use them as stocks for some other astros. Do anyone has any experience with this kind of grafts?
I would be very grateful for some tips.
 ;)

Hello bouldering.

If they are small seedlings is difficult, its sap is not sticky and if no pressure with rubber, probably not succeed the graft.

The option would be to let them grow, anyway population is not recommended, except for the appearance of root "original".

They are about 3-4 cm in diameter, so they are not so young, but they can still be called seedlings I suppose.  ;) On the other hand I have some superkabuto and ooibo seedlings and I think about grafting those on ornatum.

that will make them a litle more humidity proof, a little cold proof but will not boost that much growing. good way to save a scion if it looses the previous stock anyway! :)
