these are two from our collection, hope they will flower soon:



does anybody know the origin of this cultivar? Personally I think the are not crossed with Leuchtenbergia, at least for the first and the third photos. Maybe for the second one it is really crosse with it...
what do you think?

Hi my friend the brown spots i don"t know but now ok. and yes they are strong plants, but the green one is14cm plant and still not a single flower ufffffffffffff :'(

I really like this awesome intergeneric hybrid. The pictures are fantastic!
 I have tried a couple of years now to produce this cross with ornatumXLuechtenbergia as well as myriostigmaXLeuchtenbergia and the other way around. Until now I have no luck...but I will keep trying!

@XWA: i wish you good luck. i have never seen any photo of flowering plant.

that makes me suppose it could also be a concentrical chimera! (just kidding!)

fanecchissimo if you remember in another old forum that now is closed a person showed not only the flower but also seeds from a big astrobergia so i think is fertile, i don't know anything about the genetic of this cultivar but it looks like it can be fertile

I think he wanted to say that the cross myrio x leuchtenbergia and ornatum x leuchtenbergia doesn't produce seeds.
I remember too the photo of astrobergia with fruit on astromania.

People said it was better to take 2 steps for making Astrophytum base intergeneric hybrid.
1st step is Astrostigma (Any Astrophytum x caput medusae).
2nd step is Astrostigma x any cactus.
I have 4 Astrostigma plants. They are grafted but growing very slow.
I saw photos of Astrostigma x Echinocactus and Astrostigma x Ferocactus.
I tried Astrostigma x Thelocactus last year but it did not work.
I will try more this year.

Dear Frank,
we have some hybrids of normal myrio crossed with caput-medusae, but they looks like normal myrios, only the flower seems to be larger.
What do you think it should be the right way to obtain an astrobergia? firstly ornatum x caput medusae and then this plant crossed with leuchtenbergia?
Have you got any photo of your Astrostigma?

we obtained this plant from ornatum x myrio kikko nudum, it is still very small, we will see how it will develop.

I think it´s an astrobergia as well ,

I crossed miryo ekubo kiko   and ornatum  ,and the plants seems normal ormy and myor plants ,myriostigma with spinesand  5 and 6,7ribs ,and ornatum with out spines or lees ribs










the plants are too young to show any evidence ,but really diferent to be an astropbergia like the one of the photo

The followings are my 4 Astrostigmas. (myriostigma x caput medusae)
All of them are myriostigam shapes but the body color gives a hint of hybrid.

No. (1) was in flower last year and I crossed with Thelocactus heterochromus.
Numbers of seeds were normal and seeds looked very healthy but there was no germination at all.
I will try again if I had a chance.

Hello all,
I have even heard that you can stimulate stigma of Astrophytum flower with Dandelion pollen -> to Astrophytum flower could be than better "opened" for receiving inter-specie pollen like from Leuchtembergia => after stimulating of stigma of Astrophytum with dandelion pollen, you only polinate again with Leuchtembergia pollen. With this technique they even obtained Ferobergia, what I know I have never tried it, because I was no lucky to both Astrophytum & Leuchtemberbia would bloom same day 

But one day I will do try

I have two clones of astrostigma. will try to abotain smt, maybe next year!
