Joshua tree and other buddies
« on: Thursday, 13 November 2014 - 09:44:08 »
Hello everybody :)
I have recently been in USA with my wife and have done our "once in a life time" ( they say so ) trip !!!
We have seen so many amazing places and I want to thank this big country for giving us such a great time !!!
Among other things viewed I have to mention the surprising wild beauty of some californian parks . . . .
No words can describe what my eyes saw in Yosemite, Monolake or Death valley . . .
Despite the chronic lack of time I had the chance to see some of my beloved plants in the wild,
and I also understood how big is the distance between the natural environment where cactus live
and the growing conditions here in Europe  :x

The following are a few photos taken in the Death Valley,
a really unfriendly place for the human being,
but apparently not for some kinds of plants,
look what my eyes saw a couple of miles away from Zabriskie Point :

How can those plant survive in the surroundings of Zabriskie Point is still a mystery to me ....
I was about to leave the valley without having the chance to go to Marble Canyon
(that day road was closed . . . so unlucky),
when, driving my car, I saw on the slope of a very high hill some absolutely amazing E. polycephalus   ...
I left my wife alone in the car under the burning sun and climbed the hill
not to miss this very last chance to see a wild polycephalus !!!
