The monster is coming!

We call it "the monster", in a few days the flower will be open!

Today the flower is wide open, it is 55 cm long, and it really smells: the flyes love it!

Yes, I read it is a mediterranean plant, maybe in warmer places it flowers earlier, here it is a bit late, but also this spring was really cold!
It is the second year it flowers in my garden, during last winter it had no problems with snow and cold. It is a hardy plant, the only hint is to put the tuber rather deep in the soil, at least 20 cm under ground level.
