Both of super and miracle kabutos were found by a Japanese cactus nursery man, Mr Takeo.
Just one each in 1980s.  Super and Miracle are complete different kabutos.

Super kabuto
Large flecks over the body including vallay (between ribs)
Small body size, 10 cm diameter or so
Gene is positive, almost all seedling will be super kabuto
You can see super  character when seedlings are 1 year old.

Miracle kabuto
small flecks over the body but not on vallay
Large body size, up to 20 cm diameter
Gene is nagative, seedlings will not be miracle kabuto ( Mines are quite high, around 30% are good miracle)
Young seedlings are not showing miracle character but they change suddenly.

Thank you Mr. Frank for the explanation.

I understand the star-shape of the plant is not a character defining the miracle kabuto, right?

If I understand well, the character that defines the miracle kabuto is large body size and small flecks over the body except on vallay, right?

I'm having a really hard time trying to notice the differences on the flecks. I can see the dots on the miracle kabuto are smaller and more rounded. And also the dots on the miracle kabuto are smaller on the base and get bigger as they are closer to the top. But I also can see dots on the vallay. I'm so confused.

I've a lot of asterias sowed on past years. I've never bought seeds labeled as "miracle kabuto", and also I've read that miracle kabutos are very hard to get from seeds... so I assume none of my kabutos are "miracle". However, many of them have smaller and more round dots. They're not star-shaped, but they do have different dots when compared to another whither super kabutos.

All this keeps me from being able to tell the difference between miracle kabuto and super kabuto.

Anyway, I really appreciate Frank's attempt to explain.

Thank you

G'evening gk80

I can show you my miracle kabuto. You can know what miracle kabuto is in a moment.
Fleckings are small and shape is similar to a petals of cheree flower.
There is a white line conecting areoles.
I have 36 selected good miracle kabutos at moment. I will sow more than 1000 seeds very soon.

Thank you very much Frank. I think I understand. I will keep looking to well identified miracle kabuto photos and see if I can finally get it.
